The Relay Your Way baton is not just a relay baton - it’s a powerful statement of inclusion, innovation, and adventure. Designed and created by the Cerebra Innovation Centre team, including design engineer Gerallt Devonald and electronics engineer Reuben Wheeldon, this baton is built to be fully accessible, ensuring that everyone can take part in Britain’s most inclusive relay.
Featuring an incredible interactive light display and adaptable accessories, the baton can be carried, rolled, cycled, or transported in any way that suits the participant. It has been designed with a deep understanding of accessibility, making sure no one is left behind.
Adding to its significance, the baton’s striking copper elements pay homage to Swansea’s rich industrial heritage as a centre of copper production. This historical connection ties the baton to a story of resilience, transformation, and progress—echoing the very spirit of Relay Your Way.
As the baton travels 2,500km across the UK, it will unite thousands of people in a shared mission: to champion inclusivity and raise awareness of the challenges and rights of disabled young people. The Relay Your Way baton was designed and handcrafted by the Cerebra Innovation Centre team, led by design engineer Gerallt Devonald and electronics engineer Reuben Wheeldon. Inspired by Swansea’s copper heritage, it was built using high-quality materials and cutting-edge design to ensure durability and accessibility.
The baton has been designed to be fully inclusive, allowing anyone to carry, roll, cycle, surf or transport it in a way that suits them. It features adaptable accessories to accommodate different needs, ensuring that everyone - regardless of ability - can be part of the relay.
This isn’t just any relay baton! It features an interactive light display, making it visually striking as it travels 2,500km across the UK as well as a GPS tracker so you can watch its progress online. Its copper elements not only pay tribute to Swansea’s rich industrial past but also symbolise resilience and transformation - just like the spirit of Relay Your Way.
